Tuesday the 22nd of April 2025 is the 55th anniversary of Earth Day, and this year will celebrate the theme “Our Power, Our Planet”. Earth Day encourages people around the world to advocate for the health of our planet, air, oceans, soil, ecosystems, wildlife and human health.

Stop Food Waste Day
Stop Food Waste Day is the largest single day of action in the fight against global food waste. The aim of Stop Food Waste Day is to ignite change regarding the global food waste issue - drawing attention to food waste problems whilst educating through engaging with society at all levels by sharing practical, creative and impactful ways we can all change our behaviour to reduce food waste in the world.

International Compost Week
International Compost Awareness Week is the largest and most comprehensive education initiative of the compost industry. The goal of ICAW is to work together to raise public awareness on why we should all be composting our organics and using compost to create healthier soil.

Endangered Species Day
Every year on the third Friday in May, thousands of people around the world participate in Endangered Species Day by celebrating, learning about, and taking action to protect threatened and endangered species.

Walk To School Week
Being active and getting some exercise in the morning can help set kids up for a positive day; improving focus and concentration, and instilling a sense of physical and mental well-being. Walk To School Week is designed to help children reach their minimum 60 minutes of exercise per day, encouraging healthy habits for life with a focus on exercise, diet and well-being, whilst reducing our carbon footprint.

World Bee Day
World Bee Day aims to raise awareness on the importance of pollinators, the threats they face and their contribution to sustainable development. The goal is to strengthen measures aimed at protecting bees, which would significantly contribute to solving problems related to the global food supply and eliminate hunger in developing countries.

International Day Of Biodiversity
The International Day for Biological Diversity is a United Nations-sanctioned international day to raise awareness of biodiversity issues and of the vital importance of preserving biodiversity. The theme for 2025 is “Be part of the Plan” - this is a call to action to encourage governments, indigenous peoples, local communities, businesses and individuals to highlight the ways in which they are supporting the implementation of the Biodiversity Plan.

World Turtle Day
World Turtle Day is an annual observance dedicated to raising awareness about turtles and tortoises and their conservation needs. This day emphasises the importance of protecting these ancient reptiles and their habitats, as many species face threats from habitat destruction, pollution, illegal pet trade and climate change.

National Children's Gardening Week
National Children’s Gardening Week celebrates the fun that gardens hold for kids. The aim is to inspire children’s curiosity, whilst the warm weather is a great time to see speedy results of seed sewing, planting and other gardening activities.

World Reef Awareness Day
World Reef Day, celebrated on the 1st of June, serves as a call to action for consumers, businesses and organisations to reflect on the delicate ecosystem of our ocean’s coral reefs. The day brings together the general public, influencers and opinion leaders to create active change through education and engagement.

The Pageant Society Beach Clean (Kent)
On Sunday the 1st of June, we will be holding a beach clean in Herne Bay, Kent, from 11:00am until 1:00pm where we will be collecting litter and recording data. After we finish, we will head over to the pier for some food and activities! If you would like to join, you can sign up for free here.

World Bicycle Day
Established by the United Nations, World Bicycle Day recognises the bicycle as a simple, affordable and environmentally friendly means of transportation that contributes towards cleaner air and healthier lifestyles.

World Environment Day
World Environment Day is celebrated annually on the 5th of June, with the aim of encouraging people and organisations to think about environmental issues. The theme for World Environment Day 2025 is “Our Land. Our Future. We are #GenerationRestoration”.

The Great Big Green Week
The Great Big Green Week is the UK’s biggest ever celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature. Every year, people come together to unleash a wave of support for action to protect the planet.

World Ocean Day
World Ocean Day, celebrated on the 8th of June, catalyses collective action for a healthy ocean and a stable climate, working in collaboration with youth leaders and a wide range of organisations. World Ocean Day belongs to all groups and individuals, collectively, everywhere. It’s about how we can create a better future with an abundant ocean and a stable climate, by working together.

International Working Animal Day
International Working Animal Day is observed every year on the 15th of June to raise awareness about the essential role played by working animals around the world. They play a vital part in many people’s lives, from providing labour for agriculture, to transporting food and water to rural villages.

World Refill Day
World Refill Day, on the 16th of June, is a global public awareness campaign to prevent plastic pollution and help people live with less waste. A day of action uniting our global community, the campaign is designed to create an alternative vision of the future and accelerate the transition away from single-use plastics towards refill and reuse systems.

Plastic-Free Beauty Day
Plastic-Free Beauty Day is a day dedicated to challenging the use of plastic packaging in the beauty products we buy. As such, the day seeks to educate beauty brands, retailers and consumers on the serious impact plastic pollution is having on our environment.

Sustainable Gastronomy Day
On the 18th of June we celebrate Sustainable Gastronomy Day. Sustainable Gastronomy is cuisine that takes into account where the ingredients are from, how the food is grown and how it gets to our markets and eventually onto our plates. The campaign encourages us to acknowledge that everyone plays a role in making sustainable choices for healthy diets and a food-secure future.

London Climate Action Week
London Climate Action Week will take place from the 21st-29th of June. Now in its 7th year, it is the largest city-wide climate festival in Europe, attracting over 45,000 people annually. LCAW provides a brand and platform under which hundreds of stakeholders host their events, creating a large and vibrant programme of climate-focused activities.

World Rainforest Day
Founded in 2017 by Rainforest Partnership, World Rainforest Day celebrates the importance of healthy, standing rainforests for climate, biodiversity, culture and livelihoods - and convenes a global movement to protect and restore them.

Plastic-Free July
Plastic Free July is a global movement that helps millions of people be part of the solution to plastic pollution - so we can have cleaner streets, oceans, and beautiful communities.

The Big Butterfly Count
The Big Butterfly Count is a nationwide survey aimed at helping us assess the health of our environment. It was launched in 2010 and has rapidly become one of the world’s biggest surveys of butterflies. To get involved, simply count butterflies for 15 minutes during bright (preferably sunny) weather.

Love Parks Week
Love Parks is a week-long celebration highlighting the vital role green spaces play in boosting the health and wellbeing of residents and communities. Organise events to showcase your park’s facilities, engage with your local community, and get everyone enjoying your amazing green spaces.

National Bog Day
National Bog Day is celebrated around the world every year on the fourth Sunday in July. This annual event, in celebration of bogs, fens, swamps and marshes is an opportunity to raise awareness of peatlands - the benefits they provide, the threats they face and the ways we can all help protect them.

International Tiger Day
International Tiger Day is an annual celebration held each year on the 29th of July, to raise awareness of the decline in wild tiger numbers, leaving them on the brink of extinction, and to encourage the celebration of the important work of tiger conservation.

World Elephant Day
World Elephant Day is a day to raise awareness of the threats faced by Asian and African elephants. Since 2012, organisations around the world have worked together on this day to improve conditions for elephants.

World Humanitarian Day
World Humanitarian Day is an international day dedicated to recognise humanitarian personnel and those who have sacrificed their lives whilst working for humanitarian causes. It is intended to raise public awareness of humanitarian assistance worldwide and each year focuses on a specific theme - bringing people together to advocate for the survival, well-being and dignity of people affected by crises, and for the safety and security of aid workers.

World Plant Milk Day
World Plant Milk Day takes place on the 22nd of August. Celebrated annually, this day promotes the benefits of plant-based milk alternatives and raises awareness about the environmental and health advantages of choosing plant milk over dairy.

Second Hand September
The Second Hand September campaign puts pre-loved clothing in the spotlight, as people pledge to only buy second hand clothing for the duration of the month. The pledge was started by Oxfam, who wanted people to rethink the month that’s usually associated with Fashion Week and encourage them to shop second hand rather than the latest trends for the approaching Autumn / Winter season.

Organic September
The 1st of September marks the start of Organic September, a month-long campaign dedicated to promoting organic products and raising awareness about the benefits of organic farming and living.

Zero Waste Week
Zero Waste Week is an environmental campaign to reduce landfill waste, and takes place annually during the first full week in September. It is a non-commercial grass-roots campaign to demonstrate means and methods to reduce waste, foster community support and bring awareness to the increasing problem of environmental waste and pollution.

World Cleanup Day
National and World Cleanup Day takes place annually on the third Saturday in September and brings together people worldwide to clean up and care for their communities. This day has brought together millions of people nationally and internationally for the biggest waste collection day in human history.

Car Free Day
On the 22nd of September, Car Free Day encourages motorists around the world to give up their vehicles for a day. Car Free Day aims to see what life would be like without cars on the road, encouraging motorists to walk or cycle instead.

Seed Gathering Season
Seed Gathering Season, which runs from the 22nd of September - 22nd of October, is a great opportunity for us to come together and gather seeds from local trees and nurture them to become young saplings, which can be planted locally to benefit future generations.

Fairtrade Fortnight
Fairtrade Fortnight was launched to promote ethical and sustainable supply chains. The campaign supports the well-being of workers and growers around the world, ensuring a fair wage is paid for their work so they can look after themselves and their families.

Recycle Week
Recycle Week is a dedicated campaign that aims to raise awareness about the importance of recycling and encouraging individuals, communities and organisations to take action to reduce waste and promote sustainability. This week-long event serves as a reminder of the positive impact recycling has on the environment and encourages everyone to make recycling a part of their daily lives.

World Rivers Day
World Rivers Day is a celebration of the world’s waterways. It highlights the many values of rivers and strives to increase public awareness and encourages the improved stewardship of rivers around the world.

World Vegetarian Day
World Vegetarian Day is observed annually on the 1st of October. It is a day of celebration established by the North American Vegetarian Society in 1977 to promote the joy, compassion and life-enhancing possibilities of vegetarianism, whilst bringing awareness to the ethical, environmental health and humanitarian benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle.

No Disposable Cup Day
With increasing awareness about the environmental impact of disposable products, No Disposable Cup Day emerges as a significant event that encourages individuals to adopt more sustainable practices in their day to day lives. This initiative specifically targets the ubiquitous disposable cup, urging people to switch to reusable alternatives for their beverages.

World Habitat Day
World Habitat Day is marked on the first Monday of October each year, and is recognised by the United Nations to reflect on the state of towns and cities, and on the basic right of all to adequate shelter. The day is also intended to remind the world that everyone has the power and the responsibility to shape the future of towns and cities.

International E-Waste Day
International E-Waste Day takes place on the 14th of October each year. It was first introduced in 2018 by the Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment Forum to raise awareness of the need for e-waste recycling among consumers.

Water Night
Water Night is an annual event aiming to enhance water knowledge and encourage everyone to value water more. Take part by turning off all non-essential taps from 5-10pm on the 24th of October.

National Tree Week
National Tree Week, taking place between the 23rd of November and the 1st of December, is the UK’s largest annual tree celebration, marking the start of the winter tree planting season.

World Wildlife Conservation Day
World Wildlife Conservation Day, celebrated on the 4th of December, serves as an annual reminder of the need to safeguard our planet’s remarkable biodiversity. This special day is dedicated to raising awareness about the conservation of endangered species and their habitats.

World Soil Day
World Soil Day is held annually on the 5th of December as a means to focus attention on the importance of healthy soil and to advocate for the sustainable management of soil resources.

International Mountain Day
International Mountain Day is an annual event which draws attention to environmental issues related to mountains, and to highlight the critical roles that mountainous regions of our world play. This includes producing food, serving as a source of fresh water, providing a suitable ecosystem for numerous species and providing trekking, mountain climbing, skiing and other recreational outdoor activities.

National Dolphin Day
National Dolphin Day is a day to celebrate and raise awareness of these fascinating, complex and intelligent marine mammals and highlight the threats they are facing across the world.

Finalists' Headshot Day
Our Ms and Mrs Earth UK finalists are invited to attend our official Headshot Day on Thursday the 10th of April, where they will receive a complimentary, edited headshot.

World Walk To Work Day
Walk To Work Day encourages people to ditch the cars and bikes and walk to work in an effort to reduce pollution, and serves as a reminder of the many benefits that walking can bring to individuals, communities and the planet. By choosing to walk instead of drive, we can improve our physical and mental health, reduce our environmental impact, and contribute to building healthier, more sustainable communities.

Earth Hour
Earth Hour is a worldwide movement organised by the World Wildlife Fund. The event is held annually, encouraging individuals, communities and businesses to give an hour for Earth by switching off non-essential electric lights for one hour between 20:30 and 21:30, as a symbol of commitment to the planet.

World Water Day
Celebrated annually on the 22nd of March, World Water Day raises awareness and inspires action to tackle the water and sanitation crisis. The theme of World Water Day 2025 is “Glacier Preservation”. Glaciers are critical to life - their meltwater is essential for drinking water, agriculture, industry, clean energy production and healthy ecosystems.

The Great British Spring Clean
The Great British Spring Clean is the nation’s biggest mass-action environmental campaign. The campaign, by Keep Britain Tidy, encourages the public to make a real difference in their communities by either hosting or participating in a litter pick.

Global Recycling Day
Global Recycling Day is celebrated every year on the 18th of March. It aims to promote the use of recycled materials, and offers an opportunity to focus on recycling and its benefits.

World Wildlife Day
World Wildlife Day takes place on the 3rd of March every year, serving as a global celebration of the beautiful and varied forms of animals and plants. In 2025, World Wildlife Day will be celebrated under the theme of “Wildlife Conservation Finance: Investing in People and Planet”.

International Polar Bear Day
International Polar Bear Day is an annual event celebrated every year on the 27th of February, to coincide with the time period when polar bear mothers and cubs are sleeping in their dens, and to raise awareness about the conservation status of the polar bear.

World Whale Day
World Whale Day, which was founded in Maui, Hawaii in the 1980s, is celebrated every year on the third Sunday in February. It’s a day to raise awareness for whales and the many whale species that are threatened or endangered due to human impacts on the ocean.
